Hymenoplasty
Hymenoplasty, also recognized as hymen rejuvenation surgery, is a surgical intervention that aims to recreate the hymen, a skin tissue located in the lower quarter of the vagina. This fibrous and stretchy tissue is usually torn during a woman's first sexual penetration, but it can also shatter as a result of a physical accident, sudden motions, or even the use of tampons. The repair of a hymen is a simple process that involves sewing the torn edges along with dissolvable stitches. In most cases, it is done as a day case process with only local anesthesia.
The medical procedure is straightforward, involving the rebuilding of the hymen with fine, solubilized sutures. The operation will last between thirty minutes and an hour. When the recently created hymen is torn, it will also bleed. The original torn hymen membrane is used to build the new hymen.
